POSITION SUMMARY:
The Grant Writer will participate in the strategic planning, budgeting, development for grants, fundraising, and coordinating with fund personnel and other stakeholders as necessary. This position is responsible for all phases of grant development, evaluation, and compliance, including research, pre-award grant writing, the coordination of grant applications, post-award support for grant-funded projects, managing the grant reporting process, and successfully closing out grant projects with the final budget and report outcomes to stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and development for grants and fundraising.
- Perform internal reviews of institutional needs; collect and gather program data; assess feasibility of obtaining external funding for project and program proposals.
- Keep current with organizational goals and objectives to align grant-seeking efforts effectively.
- Investigate local, state, federal, private, foundation, and corporate sources of funds, including review of materials, listservs, meetings, telephone contacts, and correspondence.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities, including writing proposals, managing existing grants, reporting to stakeholders, and working on special projects.
- Interpret and follow grant application guidelines and requirements meticulously.
- Draft compelling and persuasive grant proposals detailing the needs, objectives, budget, and anticipated outcomes.
- Submit timely and complete grant applications, ensuring adherence to specified guidelines.
- Maintain an organized database of all funding sources and grant submissions, including dates, outcomes, and feedback.
- Manage the reporting process for all awarded grants, ensuring compliance with grant terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with grantors to gather input for all projects and comply with requests for data and other information.
- Conduct post-submission follow-ups with grantors as necessary.
- Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and form strong relationships with potential funders and external stakeholders.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor or Associate degree, preferred.
- 2+ years of applicable grant writing and administration experience is required.
- Experience in foundations, nonprofits, or the private sector is highly desirable.
- Experience with funding sources, compliance issues, and legal and fiscal policies of funding sources and appropriate government agencies.
- Experience with donor and grant-making software.
- Commitment to excellence and high standards.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and database management skills.
- Experience that demonstrates a proven track record of securing new funding opportunities.
- Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data.
- Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and apply governmental regulations and proposal guidelines.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow, implement systems, and follow-up processes.
- Exceptional interpersonal, individual leadership, and collaboration skills.
- A high degree of curiosity and initiative to find solutions.
- Ability to work within tight timelines as needed.

- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
